Ab 1. Juni 2004 ist Kurt Warner, der Star der Jahre 1999-2001, endgültig KEIN RAM mehr...

Das ist leider das Leben der NFL. Es muß immer in die Zukunft geschaut werden. Solche Karrieren wie die von Dan Marino in Miami, gehören der Vergangenheit an. Auch so genannte "Franchise-QB" sind eben nur solange "in" wie sie funktionieren, und kein anderer gezeigt hat, daß er es auch könnte...

In seiner Zeit als Ram, war er eine der Grundfesten des Teams. Ohne ihn wäre die "Cinderella-Season" von 1999 nie möglich geworden. Erst durch ihn (und natürlich durch Marshall Faulk) bekamen die anderen Spieler (wie WR Isaac Bruce und Ricky Proehl, DE Kevin Carter, LB London Fletcher, usw...) das nötige Selbstbewusstsein um bis in den SuperBowl hinein guten Football zu spielen.

Für mich bleibt er "Der Retter der Rams" nach jahrelangen Erniedrigungen. Ohne ihn wäre der Club nicht da wo er jetzt ist. Ich hoffe das vergessen die Verantwortlichen und die Fans nie...

Ich weiß nicht was ich sagen soll ......................

............. eigentlich war es ja klar, aber trotzdem hat man weiter gehofft das es nicht soweit kommt.
Ein großartiger Spieler wird die Rams verlassen. Er hatte großen Anteil am Erfolg der St. Louis Rams.
Jetzt könnte man Stunden lang darüber schreiben was für ein toller Spieler und Mensch er war, aber das würde den Rahmen dieses Threads sprengen. Auf alle Fälle werde ich die #13 (Kurt Warner) bei den Rams vermissen. Ich hoffe er findet einen neues Team und ist wieder erfolgreich.

Auf jeden Fall möchte ich sagen "DANKE KURT" für alles was du für die St. Louis Rams und seinen Fans getan hast.

Ach ja das darf nicht fehlen:

1999: 4353 Passing Yards / 65.1% / 41 TD / 109.2 Rating - NFL-MVP - Super Bowl Champion - SB-MVP - Pro Bowl

2000: 3429 Passing Yards / 67.7% / 21 TD / 98.3 Rating - Pro Bowl

2001: 4830 Passing Yards / 68.7% / 22 TD / 101.4 Rating - NFL-MVP - Pro Bowl

Ob die #13 retired wird?

Ich könnte es nicht ertragen, wenn irgendein Rookie-Punter diese Nummer erhielte...

Die "13" bekommt ein Rookie-QB, den wir in wenigen Jahren genauso "lieben" werden, wie heute den KURT.

Solche eigentlich unverständlichen Situationen entstehen nun mal durch das Salary Cap Verfahren.

Es war halt zu erwarten ist ist IMO eher gut den schlecht für die Rams.

Leider kam kein Trade zustande, aber dennoch spart man enorm viel Geld in der Salery Cap, dass man vielleicht noch einen Free-Agent verpflichen kann, der den Rams weiterhilft.

Jetzt hat Martz wieder einen kleinen Rückzieher gemacht... Bulger sei zwar die Nummer 1, aber das mit dem Entlassen von Warner sei mißverstanden worden. Es sei keineswegs gesichert, daß dies passiere...

Ich kann´s nicht mehr hören!!!!

Dieses hin und her... Ich glaube ja, daß dieses Signal ganz bewußt in die Welt gesetzt worden ist, um andere Teams davon abzuhalten neue QBs in der Draft zu holen und sie auf Warner spekulieren zu lassen und damit seinen Marktwert zu erhöhen...

Für mich ist die 5% Chance auf Warner´s Verbleib in SL eher kein Rückzieher, nicht mal ein kleiner. Da geht es eher um finanzielle Verhandlungstaktik.

Ich kann die Idee gut nachvollziehen, dass man dadurch den Agenten von Bulger etwas unter Druck setzen möchte, damit ein möglicher Signing - Bonus für Bulger im Rahmen bleibt. Der Mann hat für Manning immerhin 34,5 mio geholt ( das möchte ich auch mal für eine Vertragsunterzeichnung bekommen). STL Today geht von 15-20mio für Bulger aus.

Wenn sie Bulger nicht langzeit verpflichten, haben sie 2005 mit Pace und Bulger zwei unrestricted FAs und nur ein franchise tag. Das heisst, dass sie mindestens einen der Topspieler "billig" ziehen lassen müssen.

Das Warner geht ist klar. Ich denke da wird sich nichts daran ändern.
Die Theorie vom Geert finde ich gut. Hört sich logisch und schlau an.
Hier werden alle Möglichkeiten genutzt um Geld zu sparen. Hier geht es nicht um Spieler. Hier geht es ums große Geld. Wer was verdienen oder sparen kann. Wir wissen doch alle das in der NFL sehr oft hoch gepokert wird. Manchmal zu hoch.
Wie dem auch sei. Die Hoffnung habe ich aufgegeben das Kurt Warner ein Ram bleibt. Hier wird es nur noch spannend, was für einen Vertrag (Länge, Verdienst und Signing Bonus) Marc Bulger bekommt.
Ach noch kurz auf O. Pace zu kommen. Ich denke dieses Jahr werden sich die Rams und Pace einig. Also ein unrestricted FA weniger.
Also heißt es weiterhin: "THX KURT"

CHICAGO -- For a team creamed in its first three games of last season by a combined score of 111-43 and in its last game 31-3, the Chicago Bears sure seem to have a lot of folks feeling all warm and fuzzy about the high hopes they have for 2004.

Particularly with their quarterbacks now being:

* A 23-year-old with just nine quarters of NFL experience, who, in his only road game, was 5-for-15 with two interceptions and didn't make it to halftime.

* A career benchwarmer who, in the NFL since 1998, has thrown for three touchdowns.

* And a fifth-rounder in Sunday's draft who obviously has not taken a pro snap.

The plain truth is, what the Bears probably need to draft next is a letter.

Quarterback du jour Rex Grossman has definite NFL-star potential, no doubt about that. I like him just fine. There is a lot to like about him.

But last time I checked, opponents on the 2004 Bears schedule already have Brett Favre, Donovan McNabb, Peyton Manning, Daunte Culpepper, Mark Brunell and Steve McNair.

Is it so terribly impolite then to ask if the Bears are ready to risk everything on a young man who has been in three NFL games (and hurt his hand in the third)? Or that if Grossman were to get dinged up -- as quarterbacks have been known to do -- again this year, Plan B is to let the 2004 season ride on the arm of Jonathan Quinn, a guy with three NFL starts in six years?

Are his employers 100 percent sure Grossman has a shot at being the next Tom Brady?

A ludicrous notion has been floated, mainly by fans and mule-stubborn media, that if Warner were to become available, bringing him in could "destroy Grossman's confidence," thereby making it imperative that Warner would need to accept a condition that he come to Bears camp only as a clear-cut No. 2 quarterback to Grossman.

Here is a man, 32, who in the NFL has thrown for 14,447 yards and 102 touchdowns.

Day 1 in town, Warner would be the best quarterback the Chicago Bears ever had.

Jim McMahon's TD passes for this team: 67. Bill Wade's: 68. No man in the 83-year history of Bears football has numbers to compare with Warner's except Sid Luckman, whose 14,686 career yards in the air Warner could top by the end of the season opener with Detroit.

Oh, well. This is all entirely academic if Warner does not part company with the Rams a few weeks from now, or if Chicago is not his cup of tea. Having been a St. Louis coach, Lovie Smith is far better qualified than most to know if Warner would be an asset or a liability to this first Bears squad of his.

For the time being, Smith's roster is hungry, eager and inhabited by very few men older than 30.

Enthusiasm and the sweet promise of youth are again in the air for the Bears after the weekend's NFL draft, a yearly rite of passage that makes otherwise normal people babble about the prospects of a wide receiver from Fresno State.

We can expect rookies like Oklahoma's Tommie Harris, Washington's Tank Johnson and Fresno State's Bernard Berrian to play right away for the Bears, if last year is any indication.

This trend toward youth is why, for all I know, Craig Krenzel will become this team's No. 1 quarterback 13 weeks into the season, just as third-stringer Grossman did.

A fifth-round choice out of Ohio State, Krenzel might be greatly underestimated, much the way quarterbacks like Brady and Warner were.

Yet I cannot be the only one who believes the Bears to be so strong and deep at this position that no one else need apply.

Week 8 of the 16-game schedule, which pits the Bears against the New York Giants, is a date that will reveal a great deal.

Rex Grossman could very well be the most experienced NFL quarterback on the field, with Eli Manning calling signals for the other side.

On the other hand, it could be that the veteran Kerry Collins will be the quarterback for the Giants that day, while the Bears go with . . . well, who knows?

ESPN.COM hat ne neue Idee:

A sleeper in the Kurt Warner Derby could be Detroit, where the Lions are attempting to trade backup quarterback Mike McMahon, and coaches are not fully sold yet on starter Joey Harrington. That said, the possibility that Warner will land with the Giants next month, after his release by St. Louis, is very strong. It is likely that Rams officials will request that Warner not attend a minicamp late next week
