Jackson is getting closer to returning
If Steven Jackson had his druthers, we’re sure the Rams’ normal featured back would be returning to the starting lineup this Sunday in Seattle after taking part in his first practice Wednesday since suffering a partially torn groin muscle Sept. 23 against Tampa Bay. But the way we’re hearing it, even though Jackson’s mere presence on the practice field gave the team’s beleaguered offense an instant boost this week, there’s a strong possibility the Rams will opt for a more cautious alternative and keep their No. 1 weapon under wraps until after the Rams’ Nov. 4 bye week. Not only does the team’s 0-6 record remove any real sense of urgency in getting Jackson back into the mix, there is also the team medics’ very genuine concern that Jackson’s size and running style — which features a lot of quick, sudden cuts — could result in further damage to his sensitive groin area if he’s not 100 percent recovered from the injury. That said, we're told a return to action Oct. 28 at home against the Browns is far from being out of the question.
