With the rumor that head coach Scott Linehan could be fired during the Rams’ bye week if the team loses to Cleveland this Sunday continuing to linger despite the fact team president John Shaw called it “a ridiculous report” on Monday, the injuries that we hear the team believes have put Linehan in an admittedly hopeless situation continue to take their toll. Just when it appears the team’s best offensive player, RB Steven Jackson, is finally ready to return to action after missing the last four games with a partially torn groin muscle, we hear the player widely considered to be the team’s best defensive player, DE Leonard Little, could be fighting a losing battle with a torn ligament in his big left toe that is threatening to put an abrupt halt to his season. Word is Little will attempt to soldier on to the best of his ability, but in any event, he is expected to be at far less than 100 percent for the remainder of the season. A small consolation, we hear, is the impressive job the team believes second-year pro Victor Adeyanju did in place of the injured Little last Sunday, collecting five tackles, including two for lost yardage. But even without the normal leverage Little gets with a healthy big toe, he remains a far better pass-rush option than Adeyanju.
